Fridge not cooling? Start with both compartments
A fridge that stops cooling usually isn’t out of gas. Unless it has taken serious damage, most fridge and freezer faults are electrical or electronic. So MyBosch starts by measuring the real temperature in both compartments, because the symptom rarely points at the cause. We repair Bosch, Siemens, Neff and Gaggenau fridges across Sydney, along with Liebherr, Miele and Wolf Sub-Zero.

What the job covers
- Temperature diagnosis across both compartments
- Electrical and electronic fault finding
- Control and sensor replacement
- Door seals
- Compressor assessment
- Integrated unit repair
How we actually do it
We measure real temperatures in both compartments before touching anything, then work back through the electrical and electronic path. Guessing at gas first is how people end up paying for a regas that never fixes the fault. Diagnosing a fridge takes longer than repairing it, which is why fridge and freezer work costs more than most appliances — and why sending a specialist beats sending a generalist.
We won’t regas an old fridge that has no gas left. If the unit is old and empty, replacement is cheaper than repair, and we’ll say so on the phone. If you do replace an integrated fridge, we fit the new one into your cabinetry too, including the plumbing for water and ice.
Our 3 step process

Call for a free estimate
Tell us what the appliance is doing. We’ll tell you what the fault probably is and roughly what it’ll cost. If replacing it is cheaper than repairing it, we’ll say so on the call.

Book a technician
Happy with the advice? Book in on the same call. Give us the make, the model and exactly what it’s doing, so your technician arrives with the right tools and parts.

We come to you
Same-day call-outs anywhere in Sydney, with parts already on the van, so most jobs are finished in a single visit. Parts carry a 12-month warranty.
Keep the doors shut while you wait
Every time a door opens, cold air escapes and the food warms faster. Keep both doors closed until the technician arrives. While you wait, check the temperature dial hasn’t been knocked, the vents inside aren’t blocked by food, and there’s room behind the fridge for air to move.

Our fridge stopped cooling but the freezer was fine. They measured both compartments, found an electrical fault and fixed it the same day. Not the gas at all.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my Bosch fridge not cooling but the freezer works?
In many Bosch fridge freezers, the fridge is cooled by cold air blown up from the freezer. If the freezer is cold but the fridge isn’t, that air isn’t getting through. The usual causes are a failed fan, an air channel that has iced over because the defrost system has stopped working, or a stuck air flap. All three are electrical repairs, not gas.
Why has my Bosch fridge stopped cooling?
If the light is on but nothing is cold, the fridge has power but the cooling system isn’t running. Check the temperature setting first, and make sure there’s space behind the fridge for air to move. If it’s still warm a few hours later, the fault is usually a control board, sensor or start relay — electrical parts, not gas.
Does my fridge need regassing?
Probably not. Most fridge faults are electrical or electronic, and a fridge only loses gas if the sealed system has been damaged. That’s why we measure both compartments and trace the electrical path before anyone mentions gas. If an old fridge really has no gas left, replacement is cheaper than a regas, and we’ll tell you so.
Is it worth repairing a Bosch fridge?
Usually, yes. Most faults are electrical — fans, sensors, controls and seals — and those repairs make sense on a fridge with years left in it. Bosch fridges commonly last 12 to 15 years. The exception is an old fridge with a failed compressor or no gas left, where a new fridge costs less than the repair.
Why is my Bosch freezer not freezing?
First check the door closes fully and the seal isn’t torn — a gap lets warm air in and ice builds up. Make sure the freezer isn’t packed so tightly that air can’t move around. If it’s still not freezing, the fault is usually the fan, the defrost system or a temperature sensor, and that needs a technician.
Why is water leaking from my Bosch fridge?
Water pooling inside the fridge usually means the defrost drain at the back is blocked, so melt water overflows instead of draining away. Water on the floor under a fridge with an ice maker or water dispenser often points to the water line or its connection. Both are straightforward repairs once we find which one it is.
How do I know if my fridge door seal needs replacing?
Close the door on a sheet of paper and try to pull it out. If it slides out easily, the seal isn’t gripping there. Other signs are frost building up near the door, condensation inside, or a fridge that seems to run all the time. A worn seal makes the whole fridge work harder, so replace it early.
How long will food last if my fridge stops working?
Keep the doors shut. A closed fridge keeps food cold for about four hours. A full freezer stays frozen for about 48 hours, and a half-full one for about 24. If the fridge has been above 5°C for more than four hours, throw out perishable food like meat, dairy and leftovers.
Why does fridge repair cost more than other appliances?
Because finding the fault takes longer than fixing it. The symptom rarely points at the cause, so we measure both compartments and trace the electrical path before replacing anything. That’s the part that costs, and it’s why a specialist works out cheaper than a guess. The phone estimate is free.
Do you repair integrated and commercial fridges?
Yes. We repair domestic and commercial fridges and freezers, integrated and freestanding — Bosch, Siemens, Neff and Gaggenau, plus Liebherr, Wolf Sub-Zero, Miele and every other major brand. We also fit integrated units into cabinetry, including the plumbing for water and ice dispensers.
